Steel sheet
has a thickness less than 3/16 inch and a width 9 inches or
greater. Sheet is designated by its thickness and
width. For the thin material, the thickness
is measured in gage. However, each gage
does have a corresponding decimal value. The gage
thickness for ferrous metals is different from other
materials, i. e., aluminum or stainless steel.
